Speculative Design for Site-specific Music Performance
Design is inspired by British musician David Bowie's new album in 2013, [The Next Day] and his previous career.
As time goes by, Bowie's overpowering iconic image has gone, however, his soul has remained. The Gasholder no.8 (In King's Cross, London) has been chosen for the venue in order to bring the concept of 'The Future in Retrospect' - Gasholder no.8 is now lost its function but its main structure frames are left, and now it has been converted to a new play area and event space.
The show includes 10 songs and each song represents an iconic image and a key moment of Bowie's history from 1950 to the present. After the audience entrance, the space will be out of time and the audience and Bowie start their journey to the past.
